The first Sikka software product I saw was Fee Schedule Optimizer,
I was impressed. Now Vijay Sikka has introduced another innovative dental management
software product called Dental Practice Optimizer (DPO).
What the Sikka products do is to integrate with the leading practice
management systems like Dentrix Softdent or Eaglesoft. DPO also integrates with
major financial systems like QuickBooks.
DPO first gathers data from these existing programs. The application
then compares the data in critical management areas and applies sound business analysis
to the numbers to give the user immediate (real time) information on how the dental
practice is doing.
For example the practice can analyze cash flow, accounts receivable,
insurance to cash, lab and supply expenses, inventory and even practice valuation.
The program then displays these vital signs in a simple street light display. Green
you are doing OK, red, you are in trouble.
I saw the first public demo of DPO at the Sikka software users
meeting March 31. Kerry Straine was also there and presented a powerful program
on leadership and success. Kerry has an accounting background and made a very important
point. The best software in the world won’t help you if you don’t enter the data.
The classic computer mantra still applies….”Garbage in…Garbage out”
It was obvious Kerry was passionate about what he does to help
dentists achieve financial success. It was also obvious he has been frustrated in
the past with the difficulty of getting real numbers from practices so that he could
evaluate and help them.
I saw a great synergy emerge. At Emmott on Technology our mission

to improve the weaknesses and exploit the strengths.
