I wanted to send you a quick note. After our VERY enlightening session yesterday I cam into the office this morning and we started looking through the computer records. According to DPO we had done enough hygiene for about 700 patients, give or take. According to our overdue recall reports out of Eaglesoft we were getting about 10-15 pts per month that were past due on recalls. As you pointed out these numbers don't jive. So we poked around. I ran a report in Eaglesoft that pulled every patient that has not had a D1110 or D1120 in the last year. 487 names were on the list!!!!! YES READ THAT AS FOUR HUNDRED AND EIGHTY SEVEN!!!!!

That is how many were slipping through the cracks in the last year alone. We THOUGHT we were doing okay because so few were on the past due list. It turns out that we had just not set these patients to be in the recall system in Eaglesoft so they were all slipping through the cracks and not showing up on a report anywhere. A simple little flag costing us thousands of dollars and being detrimental to patients health.
